According to the European Commission reports, Inland waterways, barge transport, plays an important role for the transport of goods in Europe. More than 37000 kilometers of waterways and canals connect hundreds of cities and industrial regions by using the river transport.
Some 20 out of 27 European States have inland waterways and canals, 12 of which have an interconnected inland waterway networks. Compared to other modes of transport which are often confronted with congestion and capacity problems, barge for inland waterway river transportation is characterized by its reliability, its low environmental impact and its major capacity for growing expansion.
